papier mache workshop     shadow puppets workshop For this character I used a chatri (enclosure) design from the cloth paintings of Rajasthan (Phad painting). The turban came from a Persian painting, the sitting posture and waist sash from a Jain miniature painting, the decorative motifs and color pallet were kept the same as the Karnataka puppets and for further giving the character a distinct personality and attitude, I relied on my cartoon character design skills.
